Global trends in resilience

The 2022 Global Resilience Report published by the Resilience Institute gives us an interesting and informed insight into resilience around the world.

 

Over the last ten years, the Resilience Institute has analyzed data collected from almost 100,000 Resilience Diagnostic Assessments (RDAs) globally and in seven languages, and presents the top lessons that can help leaders and organisations shape effective human growth strategies and assist individuals with their transformation into more resilient people.

Their research confirms that we GROW from adversity – facing meaningful challenges can help us become even better versions of ourselves.

 

It also highlights the necessity of punctuating your day with deliberate rest-and-recovery practices to avoid chronic stress and calm the nervous system. Being in a constant state of hypervigilance or fight-and-flight can severely impact our immune system, digestive system and reproductive system.

 

The 5 most important success factors for high resilience:

1. Sleep quality – A good night’s sleep is the lead factor for promoting resilience wellbeing and good mental health. Do you wake up feeling refreshed and ready, or do you wake with a busy mind?  If you want some effective proven strategies for securing a better sleep, let’s talk.

 

2. Fulfilment – feeling contented, joyous and fulfilled. Fulfillment is a critical factor for wellbeing. Consider whether your work gives you a sense of purpose and is a source of happiness and fulfillment?

4. Relaxation – critical for wellbeing and effectiveness. Relaxation practices help the mind and the body be calm so we can connect and focus.  Consider punctuating your day with relaxation and recovery practices such as microbreaks – a wonderful opportunity to reset and rejuvenate.

 

5. Focus – for performance and good mental health.  Our attention span has diminished considerably thanks to a digitally invasive world. Constant interruptions and distractions prevent us from focusing and finding “flow”.  How can you focus more deeply?
